39/20 AllianceEconomic Development Non-Profit Town
In late 2007, four communities along highways 39 and 20 met to discuss working on various economic resources that could be addressed collectively for the region’s benefit. This brought the four communities –the Town of Calmar and Villages of Thorsby, Warburg and Breton – to a new level of co-operation, and has helped build efficient working relationships between the communities. In 2011, those discussions came to fruition.
By merging regionally, the 39/20 Alliance is an economic leader, providing increased levels of service while realizing the cost-benefits achieved through partnership.
39/20 Alliance Values
The 39/20 Alliance members act in the best interests of the Alliance and its residents in a genuine effort to make improvements
Alliance members take the spending of public dollars with great responsibility and strive to achieve the greatest return for dollars spent
The Alliance understands the need for communicating its activities and their results, and for ongoing dialogue with stakeholders
The Alliance values honesty and openness in the conduct of its activities
All Alliance members are equal in the decision-making process
One of the primary aims of the Alliance is to promote economic development opportunities within the region and to provide support to the existing business community in order to create wealth and improve quality of life for the region’s residents.

Edmonton & District Kart Racing AssociationNon-Profit Outdoor Sports & Recreation
E.D.K.R.A (Edmonton and District Kart Racing Association) was formed in 1972 and at first was racing on weekends at St Albert go kart track and the World renowned Edmonton International Speedway, both facilities were lost due to expansion of the city in the early 80′s. In those days we typically had 40 plus karts entered for each event.
In 1982 Noel Dowler Sr, with the direction of existing club president Nigel Mullen, constructed the first Warburg track. This is where Kevin Dowler and Daryl Harr raced as a teenagers, and both drivers eventually went on to race in the Cascar Western Series, winning a combined 6 championships – 5 for Kevin and 1 for Daryl.
In 2009 a deal was signed with the Village of Warburg to purchase the land adjacent to the south border of the existing Warburg EDKRA track. Despite the exceptionally wet summer of 2010, with very many hours of volunteer work by many club members, the construction of the new 1.1km WORLD CLASS KARTING TRACK was completed in September 2010. On September 4, 2010 the new track was used for the first time and on September 5 a club-member-only “Piston Cup” friendly team race was held. The first race on the new circuit was the 2010 Fall Classic on September 18 & 19, 2010.
The EDKRA is a non profit organization that is completely run and organized by volunteers. These volunteers dedicate their precious time to make each race day safe, run smooth and be enjoyable for the entire racing family at every EDKRA event.
Each year, around the beginning of April, the new race season begins full swing with a classroom session for new racers to get the safety and competition details that are needed to compete in the EDKRA. This is later followed by a one day track session that teaches these new racers about proper and safe procedures while competing in the events that are held throughout the summer until about the end of September. Please see our race schedule for the dates that these sessions will take place as well as all the event dates.
The EDKRA race season consists of 12 to 14 events/year where racers compete for points that will determine their standing in their respective classes. The racer with the most points in his/her class after the final event of the season will be awarded the championship trophy during the EDKRA annual banquet. This banquet is usually held around end of October or beginning of November and is a top notch event that every EDKRA member and their friends and family are invited to attend.
